“In my early professional years I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?”

– Carl Rogers

What to expect from Supervision?

My goal as a supervisor is to help the supervisee fully understand and meet the requirements for licensure as an LPC and to guide the supervisee in their professional and personal growth as a therapist using an Integrative Development Model. The IDM focuses on the importance of the supervisory relationship as the basis for all learning. I feel that just as the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client provides the support for change and growth, so does the relationship between supervisor and supervisee.

The focus of Process:

– Who am I as a clinician?

– What population do I want to work with and why?

– Understanding ethics and client welfare

– What theoretical orientations best fit me and why?

– Willingness to be self-aware

– Personal responsibility and accountability

Within this framework, the supervisee will be guided in their journey of developing their personal and authentic identity as a professional counselor, fulfill the requirements needed to become fully licensed, and gain knowledge and competence in the areas of ethics, client welfare, theory, and intervention.
