Therapist’s therapist in Marietta, Ga
Are you a therapist looking for your own therapist in Marietta, Ga? Or in Colorado? Or Florida?
As therapists, we know how hard it can be for our clients to decide to start therapy – that first session meeting us for the first time, being vulnerable to a stranger. As therapists, we sometimes feel that because we have all of this knowledge and understanding, we are supposed to know what to do when we need help. And the fear of struggling or needing help means that we aren’t in a healthy space to help others.
I myself have felt that way, especially when it comes to being a mother, a wife, a partner, a therapist, a woman with ADHD, a daughter, a sister, and a friend.
I believe that every therapist needs a therapist.
I am human, and so are you. You are allowed to NOT know what to do. Even though you might if you were sitting across from a client with a similar or very same painful experience.
Not only do you have your own human experience, but you are also sitting with others as they process their human experience. Sitting with your clients has an impact on you, even if they a processing an experience that you can only relate to professionally, and not personally.
But let’s face it, there are many clients that have or have had very similar experiences as you. And appropriately, you have somewhere on the mild to severe spectrum of your own emotional response to their experience.
I like helping my clients learn how to practice self-compassion, heal from old and/or current wounds, become the author of their own story, and build a strong sense of self. I also know that at times historically and going forward in my life, I also need support and guidance from an objective, warm and compassionate therapist. You and I tell our clients they aren’t alone. And they aren’t. You don’t have to go through it alone either.
